Almost everyone knows someone with Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, or irritable bowel syndrome.
And if you live with digestive symptoms yourself, you’ll probably recognize this immediately:
You lie awake at night with stomach pain or a restless feeling in your abdomen. After an enjoyable evening out for dinner, you feel bloated or get sharp pains. And wherever you are, you automatically check whether there’s a toilet nearby. Those are the moments when the frustration really sinks in. Because you’re not “just a little sensitive.” It affects your day, your social life, and your mind. And what makes it even more complicated is that many people are already doing all kinds of things.
They adjust their diet.
Try supplements.
Exercise more.
Have tests done.
And sometimes there is a clear diagnosis, but sometimes there isn’t.
Yet the symptoms persist.
What is often missing isn’t another ingredient or another diet.
The missing piece is often rooted in the foundation of your biology.
Namely, your biorhythm.
The hard truth: your gut can only heal when your system is in “safe” mode
The gut is not an isolated organ that only responds to food.
The gut is a sensory system that continuously listens to signals from the nervous system.
When your body experiences stress, it switches into survival mode.
And in that state, recovery is put on the back burner.
This means your digestion may become less efficient.
Gut motility can change.
Sensitivity to stimuli can increase.
And this is why you sometimes “do everything right” when it comes to nutrition, yet still experience symptoms.
Not because you are failing.
But because your system has not yet entered recovery mode.
Don’t get me wrong, good nutrition is extremely important. But you can think of it as fuel for your body. Your circadian rhythm determines how your body—your machine—works. If your machine is broken, even the best fuel won’t fix it.
Once your body starts functioning as it was designed to, good nutrition will have a greater impact again.
